91 Freeway Traffic Jammed After Pursuit and Standoff

A police pursuit that ended in a standoff on the 91 Freeway in Orange County caused major traffic delays on Wednesday afternoon. The pursuit began around 2 p.m. when police attempted to pull over a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver refused to stop and led police on a chase down the freeway.
The chase ended when the suspect vehicle crashed on the side of the freeway near Bellflower Lane. The suspect then fled on foot and ran into a nearby residential area. Police pursued the suspect and eventually apprehended him after a brief standoff.
The freeway was closed in both directions for several hours while police investigated the scene. Traffic was backed up for miles in both directions. The freeway has since been reopened, but traffic is still heavy in the area.
