91 Freeway Closed After Pursuit Ends in Standoff

A large fleet of police vehicles blocked both sides of the 91 Freeway in Anaheim Hills Friday morning, May 24, after a police pursuit that started in Corona ended in a nearly four-hour standoff.
The closure extended from the area where the 91 freeway meets the 55 freeway to Lakeview Avenue.
The suspect is dead after a pursuit and a nearly four-hour standoff that forced a complete closure of the freeway.
The closure has caused major traffic delays in the area. Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.
The incident began around 10:00 a.m. when police attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and led police on a chase.
The chase ended on the 91 Freeway in Anaheim, where the suspect's vehicle crashed. The suspect then exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
Police set up a perimeter around the area and began searching for the suspect. The suspect was eventually found hiding in a nearby business.
The suspect was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital. The suspect's condition is unknown at this time.
The incident is still under investigation.
