Cowboys, Elliott Agree to Terms on Contractual Reunion
Elliott Returns to Dallas After Pro Bowl Performances
McCarthy-Pollard Tandem No Longer Sufficient
The Dallas Cowboys and running back Ezekiel Elliott have agreed to a contract, bringing the multi-time Pro Bowler back to the NFL. The Cowboys' lack of investment in a running back during the NFL draft indicates a potential reunion between the team and Elliott. In each of head coach Mike McCarthy's four seasons with the Cowboys, Elliott or Tony Pollard has been a key contributor. Now, with Elliott's return, the Cowboys will have a more balanced offense. NFL Media reports that Elliott will be designated a post-June 1 cut, which means the club will save nearly $11 million against the salary cap. This move allows the Cowboys to retain a key player while maintaining salary flexibility.
